A young 22 year old Harry Bath came to England from Balmain to play for Barrow, but he did not settle and joined Warrington in March 1948. In his nine years at Wilderspool he became the most prolific try-scoring forward and the third greatest goalkicker in the club’s history. Harry scored over three hundred points in a season on three occasions, including a club record 363 in the 1952/53 season.
Bath played in Warrington’s most successful era, being a Championship winner in 1954 and 1955 and a Challenge Cup winner in 1950 and 1954. He captained the side that defeated Widnes 19–0 to win the 1950 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley.
Bath played his final game for Warrington against Bramley at Wilderspool in February 1957 before returning to Australia for three great seasons at St George. Harry coached Australia to two World Cup successes in 1977 and 1979 and St George to two Grand Final triumphs. He is a member of the Australian Rugby League Hall of Fame and considered the best Australian never to wear the “Green and Gold” of his country.
In 2006 Harry donated his 1948 Championship winners’ medal to raise funds for the Mike Gregory Trust.
